01What Is Personal Information?

Personal information is recorded information about an identifiable individual. Personal information includes such things as an individual’s name, address, birth date, e-mail address and phone number and billing information.

02What Information Is Collected

When you visit our website to browse, read pages, or download information, we will gather and store certain information about the visit. The following information is automatically collected and stored:

1. The Internet Protocol address and domain name used. The Internet Protocol address is a numerical identifier assigned either to your Internet service provider or directly to your computer. This address can be translated to determine the domain name of your service provider (e.g. gov.bc.ca, xcompany.com or yourschool.edu);
2. The type of browser and operating system;
3. The date and time of the visit; and
4. The web pages or services accessed.

Information collected automatically is used for purposes such as assessing system performance, improving web services and web site management.

03Privacy Guarantee

Our site also has online forms to submit for direct contact and/or requests for literature. We collect customers’ name, address, phone number and e-mail addresses and use this information to respond to our customers accordingly. Our customers have the option of joining our e-mail list to receive occasional special offers. They have the option of opting out of this list at any time.

This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. This information will never be shared with a third party or outside source.

04The Sun & Steel Mobile App

The sections above describe this website. This section describes the Sun & Steel mobile app for iOS and Android, which handles different information because it connects to equipment and runs on your phone.

You can browse the shop, the planning tools and the 3D builder without an account. An account is only needed to connect equipment and to save designs.

05What the App Collects

1. Account information. Your email address and password, used to create and sign in to your account and to keep your saved work with it.
2. Your structures and equipment. The greenhouses, buildings, zones and devices you set up, and the readings your equipment reports, such as temperature, humidity, soil moisture and whether a device is on or off. This is what makes monitoring and automation work.
3. Photos you choose to submit. If you use Plant AI, the photo you take or pick is sent to be identified and is used to produce care advice. Photos are only ever sent when you ask for an identification. The app does not read your photo library otherwise.
4. Location, if you allow it. Used to look up the climate data behind the heating, wind and design tools, so the numbers match where you are building. You can decline, and every tool still works by choosing your region from a list.
5. Basic diagnostics. Ordinary server logs of app requests, used to keep the service running and to investigate faults.

06Services the App Relies On

Some features cannot work without passing information to the companies that provide them. We use these strictly to deliver the feature you asked for, and they are not permitted to use your information for their own marketing:

1. Tuya. Device connectivity. Your account and the devices you pair are registered with Tuya so that your equipment can be reached and controlled.
2. Plant.id. Plant identification. A photo you submit through Plant AI is sent to Plant.id to identify the plant.
3. OpenAI. Care recommendations. Once a plant is identified, the identification and your greenhouse conditions are sent to generate advice. Your photo is not sent to OpenAI.

07What We Do Not Do

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with anyone outside the services listed above. We do not use it for advertising, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and the app contains no advertising or analytics tracking software of any kind.

08Your Choices

Camera, photo library and location access are all optional, requested only at the moment a feature needs them, and can be withdrawn at any time in your device settings. Declining any of them leaves the rest of the app working.

To delete your account and the information held with it, contact admin@sunandsteelsolutions.com and we will remove it.
